Today I put on my running shoes and took my first strides in more than 6 years.  With the new Couch to 5k app, Get Running successfully installed on my phone, my playlist updated and nerves  soaring high, I stepped out my front door and took the first steps that  felt like pure FREEDOM…..
Ok maybe I’m slightly exaggerating but maybe not.  I have been so  scared of taking those first steps for so long. So I had just kept  putting them off.  Today was different and I couldn’t tell you what  about today made it different other than I just quite thinking about it  and did it.  I just told myself I would do my best and deal with the  feelings later.
I completed my 35 minute run/walk combo & wanted it to be my next  running day as soon as I started my cool down.  Maybe my fear of  running is gone and maybe it will try and creep back up.  But whatever  does happen I hope I can remember the exhilaration I felt taking today’s  first steps and push through the fear again.
